Abstract

Detailed information about a party can be provided during interparty communication. Data-capable mobile devices query at least a public database to retrieve information about a set of parties engaged in communication. The results of the database query are employed to provide detailed caller identification and detail functionality to telephones or communication devices not utilizing traditional landlines or commercial caller identification service. Storage can be included to include address book function, query caching, and user preferences. An interface can be provided to facilitate display of rich caller identification information. The interface can further update displayed information without user input, or provide user selection control to request more information on a selected portion of displayed information. These features can be applied to determine the information about a party that is either receiving a communication or initiating a communication.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising;

in response to first party information being determined not to be represented in contact history information of a device at which a call is received,

querying a public data store resulting in public data store query results; and

selecting second party information from the public data store query results, wherein the second party information is for a same party as a communication party identity from which the call is initiated, and wherein the selecting the second party information is based on comparing ones of the public data store query results; and

facilitating a display of the second party information received from the public data store query results.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the querying is first querying, and wherein the operations further comprise:

second querying the public data store for additional information relating to the second party information.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the second querying is performed without a request for the additional information being received by the system.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:

storing the first party information for reuse in a future communication comprising the communication party identity as a party identity.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:

enabling the communication party identity to provide input.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the input enables the communication party identity to opt-out of query service based upon which the display of the second party information is facilitated.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the facilitating the display comprises facilitating a selection of a portion of the second party information that is displayed.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the operations further comprise:

requesting additional information relating to the selection.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise:

facilitating a display of the additional information relating to the selection.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the facilitating the display is performed during the call.

11. A machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

in response to first party information being determined not to be represented in contact history information of a device at which a call is received,

querying a public data store resulting in public data store query results, and

selecting second party information from the public data store query results, wherein the second party information is for a same party as a communication party identity from which the call is initiated, wherein the selecting the second party information is based on comparing ones of the public data store query results, and wherein the public data store query results comprise biographical information for an entity associated with a second device from which the call is received; and

facilitating a display of the second party information received from the public data store query results.

12. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 11, wherein the biographical information comprises an occupation for the entity.

13. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the biographical information comprises family information for the entity.

14. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 13, wherein the family information is determined based on evaluating a social networking technology with which the entity is associated.

15. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein the family information is determined based on linking the entity with a second entity based on proximity to one another.

16. A method, comprising:

in response to first party information being determined not to be represented in a contact history information of a first device at which a call is received,

querying, by a second device comprising a processor, a public data store resulting in public data store query results; and

selecting, by the second device, second party information from the public data store query results, wherein the second party information is for a same party as a communication party identity from which the call is initiated, and wherein the selecting the second party information is based on comparing ones of the public data store query results; and

facilitating, by the second device, a display of the second party information received from the public data store query results.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the facilitating the display comprises facilitating a selection of a portion of the second party information that is displayed.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

requesting, by the second device, additional information relating to the selection.

19. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

facilitating, by the second device, a display of the additional information relating to the selection.

20. The method of claim 16, wherein the facilitating the display is performed during the call.
