Abstract

Systems and methods for providing e-mail to a mobile client are disclosed. In one example, the method can include receiving, at a server associated with transmitting e-mail to the mobile client, an indication of a battery level in the mobile client. The method can also include comparing the battery level to a threshold level and synchronizing e-mail with the mobile client when the battery level meets the threshold level. The method can further include activating, when the battery level is below the threshold level, a filtered mode for synchronizing e-mail with the mobile client, the filtered mode transmitting fewer than all of the available e-mail messages for the mobile client.

Claims

1. A method for providing e-mail to a mobile client, comprising:

receiving, at a server associated with transmitting e-mail to the mobile client, an indication of a battery level in the mobile client;

comparing the battery level to a threshold level;

synchronizing e-mail with the mobile client when the battery level meets the threshold level; and

activating, when the battery level is below the threshold level, a filtered mode for synchronizing e-mail with the mobile client, the filtered mode transmitting fewer than all of the available e-mail messages for the mobile client.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the indication of a battery level comprises a percentage of battery life remaining.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising, after activating the filtered mode:

receiving a second indication of the battery level;

determining that the second indication exceeds the threshold level; and

synchronizing the e-mails that were filtered during execution of the filtered mode with the mobile client.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising, when the indication of the battery level is below the threshold level and while the filtered mode is activated:

receiving, at the server, a second indication of a second battery level in a second mobile client;

comparing the second battery level to the threshold level; and

synchronizing e-mail with the second mobile client when the second battery level meets the threshold level while using the filtered mode for the mobile client.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising receiving a first device identifier for the mobile client and receiving a second device identifier for the second mobile client.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising executing a neural network based on a plurality of factors to determine whether a new e-mail should be filtered or provided to the mobile client during filtered mode.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising updating weighting factors for inputs to the neural network based on a user'"'"'s interaction with e-mail.

8. A non-transitory, computer-readable medium containing instructions executed by a processor to perform stages for delivering e-mail, the stages comprising:

receiving, at a server associated with transmitting e-mail to the mobile client, an indication of a battery level in the mobile client;

comparing the battery level to a threshold level;

synchronizing e-mail with the mobile client when the battery level meets the threshold level; and

activating, when the battery level is below the threshold level, a filtered mode for synchronizing e-mail with the mobile client, the filtered mode transmitting fewer than all of the available e-mail messages for the mobile client.

9. The computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the indication of a battery level comprises a percentage of battery life remaining.

10. The computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the stages further comprise, after activating the filtered mode:

receiving a second indication of the battery level;

determining that the second indication exceeds the threshold level; and

synchronizing the e-mails that were filtered during execution of the filtered mode with the mobile client.

11. The computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the stages further comprise, when the indication of the battery level is below the threshold level and while the filtered mode is activated:

receiving, at the server, a second indication of a second battery level in a second mobile client;

comparing the second battery level to the threshold level; and

synchronizing e-mail with the second mobile client when the second battery level meets the threshold level while using the filtered mode for the mobile client.

12. The computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein the stages further comprise receiving a first device identifier for the mobile client and receiving a second device identifier for the second mobile client.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the stages further comprise executing a neural network based on a plurality of factors to determine whether a new e-mail should be filtered or provided to the mobile client during filtered mode.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 13, wherein the stages further comprise updating weighting factors for inputs to the neural network based on a user'"'"'s interaction with e-mail.

15. A system for providing e-mail, comprising:

a mobile client; and

a server associated with transmitting e-mail to the mobile client, wherein the server;

receives an indication of a battery level in the mobile client;

compares the battery level to a threshold level;

synchronizes e-mail with the mobile client when the battery level meets the threshold level; and

activates, when the battery level is below the threshold level, a filtered mode for synchronizing e-mail with the mobile client, the filtered mode transmitting fewer than all of the available e-mail messages for the mobile client.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the indication of a battery level comprises a low level or a high level.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the server further, after activating the filtered mode:

receives a second indication of the battery level;

determines that the second indication exceeds the threshold level; and

synchronizes the e-mails that were filtered during execution of the filtered mode with the mobile client.

18. The system of claim 15, wherein the server further, when the indication of the battery level is below the threshold level and while the filtered mode is activated:

receives a second indication of a second battery level in a second mobile client;

compares the second battery level to the threshold level; and

synchronizes e-mail with the second mobile client when the second battery level meets the threshold level while using the filtered mode for the mobile client.

19. The system of claim 15, further comprising receiving a command from the mobile device to override the filtered mode.

20. The system of claim 15, wherein the server further executes a neural network based on a plurality of factors to determine whether a new e-mail should be filtered or provided to the mobile client during filtered mode.
