1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

  • maintaining a plurality of bandwidth optimization criteria corresponding to a plurality of different types of data transfer event scenarios, the plurality of bandwidth optimization criteria indicating criteria for scheduling a data transfer and dynamically configuring bandwidth allocation from an elastic network service provider of an elastic cloud computing network;

    based on recognizing a data transfer event scenario, selecting a bandwidth optimization criteria of the plurality of bandwidth optimization criteria based on a type of the data transfer event scenario;

    determining a schedule for transferring data from a source storage location to a target storage location across the elastic network, the schedule determined according to the selected bandwidth optimization criteria; and

    using the elastic network in transferring the data to the target storage location, the using comprising dynamically configuring elastic network bandwidth allocation from the elastic network service provider and initiating transfer of the data to the target storage location according to the schedule.
