1. A method for comparative sports performance analysis, the method comprising:
- storing a plurality of paths in memory, each path stored in association with at least one of a plurality of possible plays;
receiving a plurality of measured locations of a first player while the first player is performing a first play over a first time period, the plurality of measured locations received from one or more sensor devices;
identifying a player path based on connecting the plurality of measured locations;
identifying one or more of the stored paths that match the identified player path, wherein a match is identified when the identified player path is within a pre-determined deviation threshold of the respective stored path and when the respective stored path is associated with a stored play corresponding to the first play;
generating a player performance evaluation based on a comparison between the identified player path and the one or more matching paths stored in memory; and
providing the player performance evaluation to a designated interface device.

Abstract
Systems and methods for identifying recorded playbook plays are described. The method includes recording locations of one or more players during execution of a play and evaluating the recorded locations with one or more known plays in a playbook. Based on the evaluation, one or more plays can be identified as being most correlated with the recently executed play. The evaluation can also be used to compare how a particular player has been executing the playbook play (e.g., deviations). Use of the identified play can also be used to produce one or more counter-plays.

13. A system for comparative sports performance analysis, the system comprising:
-
one or more databases that store a plurality of paths, each path stored in association with one of a plurality of possible plays; a communication interface that receives a plurality of measured locations of a first player while the first player is performing a first play over a first time period, the plurality of measured locations received from one or more sensor devices; a processor coupled to memory, wherein execution of the instructions by the processor; identifies a player path based on connecting the plurality of measured locations, identifies one or more of the stored paths that match the identified player path, wherein a match is identified when the identified player path is within a pre-determined deviation threshold of the respective stored path and when the respective stored path is associated with a stored play corresponding to the first play, generate a player performance evaluation based on a comparison between the identified player path and the one or more matching paths stored in memory, and provide the player performance evaluation to a designated interface device. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
