Abstract

A communication system including a server configured, in response to receiving an identification code of a first user from a second user via a mobile device of the second user, to retrieve personal identification information of the first user and to contact the first user with a message on behalf of the second user in a manner that does not identify the second user to the first user and the first user to the second user without authorization.

Claims

1. A communication system, comprising:

a server configured, in response to receiving an identification code of a first user from a second user via a mobile device of the second user, to retrieve personal identification information of the first user and to contact the first user with a message on behalf of the second user in a manner that does not identify the second user to the first user and the first user to the second user without authorization.

2. The communication system of claim 1, further comprising

a first-user identification tag configured to be associated with a vehicle of the first user, the first-user identification tag including a machine-readable medium and an identification code of the first user in the machine-readable medium.

3. The communication system of claim 2, wherein the first-user identification tag is a radio-frequency identification tag.

4. The communication system of claim 2, wherein the first-user identification tag is a two-dimensional barcode.

5. The communication system of claim 1, further comprising

a database including the identification code of the first user and personal identification information of the first user, associated with the identification code of the first user, wherein the server is configured to retrieve the personal identification information of the first user from the database.

6. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the identification code of the first user includes a vehicle identification number.

7. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the identification code of the first user includes license plate information.

8. The communication system of claim 1, further comprising

the mobile device of the second user, wherein the mobile device of the second user is configured to retrieve the identification code of the first user from a first-user identification tag, and is further configured to communicate with the server and to send the identification code of the first user to the server.

9. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to receive an indication of the message from the mobile device of the second user and to send the message to the mobile device of the first user.

10. The communication system of claim 9, wherein the indication of the message comprises the message.

11. The communication system of claim 9, wherein the server is further configured to send the message to the mobile device of the first user only if the message is predetermined to be an authorized message send-able to the mobile device of the first user.

12. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to send the message from the server to a third-party after receiving the identification code of the first user from the mobile device of the second user and retrieving the personal identification information of the first user.

13. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to send insurance information of the first user to an insurance company after receiving the identification code of the first user from the second user, retrieving the personal identification information of the first user, and receiving authorization.

14. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to send insurance information of the first user to the mobile device of the second user after receiving the identification code of the first user from the second user, retrieving the personal identification information of the first user, and receiving authorization.

15. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to receive an image from a camera associated with a vehicle of the first user and to send the image to the mobile device of the first user in response to receiving a request from the mobile device of the first user.

16. The communication system of claim 1, wherein the server is further configured to enable oral communication between the mobile device of the first user and the mobile device of the second user in response to receiving authorization from the mobile device of the first user and the mobile device of the second user.

17. A method for controlling a communication system, comprising:

receiving, at at least one computer, an identification code from a mobile device of a first user;

identifying, at the at least one computer, personal identification information of a second user associated with the identification code, the personal identification information including contact information of the second user;

receiving, at the at least one computer, an indication of a message from the mobile device of the first user; and

sending, from the at least one computer, the message to the mobile device of the second user in a manner that does not identify the first user to the second user and the second user to the first user without authorization.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising

receiving, at the at least one computer, the personal identification information of the second user;

associating, at the at least one computer, the personal identification information of the second user with the identification code; and

associating, at the at least one computer, the identification code with a machine-readable identification tag.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein

sending, from the at least one computer, the message to the mobile device of the second user occurs only if the message is predetermined to be an authorized message send-able to the mobile device of the first user.

20. The method of claim 17, further comprising

receiving, at the at least one computer, a request from the mobile device of the second user for oral communication with the first user;

and

enabling, at the at least one computer, oral communication between the mobile device of the first user and the mobile device of the second user.

21. A method for controlling a communication system for insurance information, comprising:

receiving, at at least one computer, an identification code of a second user from a mobile device of a first user;

identifying, at the at least one computer, insurance information of the second user associated with the identification code of the second user, and identifying insurance information of the first user; and

sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the second user to the mobile device of the first user or to an insurance company of the first user, and sending, from the at least one computer, insurance information of the first user to a mobile device of the second user or to the insurance company of the second user.

22. The method of claim 21, further comprising

receiving, at the at least one computer, an identification code of the first user from the mobile device of the second user, and

wherein identifying, at the at least one computer, the insurance information of the first user includes identifying the insurance information of the first user associated with the identification code of the first user.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising

receiving, at the at least one computer, confirmation of the first user and the second user for exchanging insurance information before sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the first user and before sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the second user, receiving confirmation includes

sending, from the at least one computer, a request to swap insurance information to the first user and the second user after receiving, at the at least one computer, the identification code of the second user from the mobile device of the first user and receiving, at the at least one computer, the identification code of the first user from the mobile device of the second user, and

receiving, at the at least one computer, confirmation from the mobile device of the first user and the mobile device of the second user for exchanging insurance information.

24. The method of claim 21, further comprising

receiving, at the at least one computer, confirmation of the first user and the second user for exchanging insurance information before sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the first user and before sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the second user.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein receiving confirmation includes

receiving, at the at least one computer, a request from the mobile device of the first user for the insurance information of the second user;

sending, from the at least one computer, a confirmation code to the mobile device of either of the first user or the second user; and

receiving, at the at least one computer, the confirmation code from the mobile device of the other of the first user or the second user.

26. The method of claim 24, wherein receiving confirmation includes

receiving, at the at least one computer, a request from the mobile device of the first user for exchanging insurance information;

sending, from the at least one computer, a confirmation request to the mobile device of the second user; and

receiving, at the at least one computer, confirmation from the mobile device of the second user for exchanging insurance information.

27. The method of claim 21, further comprising

receiving, at the at least one computer, an indication of a message from the mobile device of the first user, and

sending, from the at least one computer, the message and the insurance information of the second user to the insurance company of the first user.

28. The method of claim 21, wherein

sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the second user to the mobile device of the first user, and sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the first user is to the mobile device of the second user.

29. The method of claim 21, wherein

sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the second user to the insurance company of the first user, and sending, from the at least one computer, the insurance information of the first user is to the insurance company of the second user.
