Abstract

A personalized way to digitally record a person'"'"'s physical activities over time serves web searching, business advertising, nostalgia, security and object tracing purposes. The chronological digital history of the person'"'"'s physical presence over a time includes (i) digital network entries from other members who hold their portable wireless short range device near the person'"'"'s device and transmit a URL or other key data and (ii) digital member entries such a digital photograph of a store sign. The digital network entries and digital member entries are automatically transmitted to a database located on a telecommunications network at a time of entry. Advertisers can transmit to members when members enter premises of advertiser'"'"'s store. Upon sign-up online, the authentication data uniquely associated with an account is provided and key data they want to transmit is associated with the account. Digital histories can be used to improve web searching and networking opportunities.

Claims

1. A system of physical location histories, comprising:

a server computer associated with a network;

mobile communication devices configured to be handheld, a global positioning system (GPS) in communication with the mobile communication devices and with the server computer,

each of the mobile communication devices configured, upon a physical encounter between an individual member of the network holding the mobile communication device and a stationary member of a plurality of stationary members of the network, the stationary member having a physical premises, to transmit key data of the stationary member and of the individual member to the computer server automatically when the individual member enters the physical premises of the stationary member based on a location of the physical premises as determined by the GPS,

wherein the key data comprises a URL, or an identifier associated with the URL;

a database, maintained by the server computer, of physical location histories of the individual members and stationary members, the database including entries of the key data transmitted during each of the physical encounters, the database correlating each member of the network to at least one other member of the network based on the physical encounters,

wherein the server computer is in communication with the mobile communication devices.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the key data, the place of entry determined by the global positioning system in communication with the mobile communication devices.

The system of claim 1, wherein the mobile communication devices are also configured to capture a digital representation of a sensory image perceived by any individual member of the network and wherein at least the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the digital representation, the place of entry determined by the global positioning system.

4. The system of claim 1, the mobile communication devices are configured to have a text entry recorded by the individual member and wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the text entry, the place of entry determined by the global positioning system.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising

one or more processors having access to the database and configured to (i) respond to a search query by a searching person who is a member of the network by determining a relationship between the searching person, a useful person who is a member of the network and a first vendor of the plurality of stationary members;

and (ii) generate a search result that increases a ranking of the first vendor as a result of the relationship between the first vendor, the searching person and the useful person, wherein the relationship is such that;

(a) the useful person'"'"'s physical location history includes the first vendor; and

(b) the searching person'"'"'s physical location history and the useful person'"'"'s physical location history each include a second vendor of the plurality of stationary members.

6. A system of physical location histories, comprising:

a server computer associated with a network;

for each stationary member of a plurality of stationary members, wherein each stationary member is a member of the network and has a physical premises, a stationary communication device affixed to the physical premises of the stationary member;

mobile communication devices configured to be handheld,

each of the mobile communication devices configured, upon a physical encounter between an individual member of the network holding the mobile communication device and a stationary member of the plurality having the stationary device, to exchange key data between the stationary member and the individual member via short range wireless communication when the individual member enters the physical premises of the stationary member either automatically or after being actuated by the individual member,

each of the mobile communication devices also configured, upon a physical encounter between two individual members of the network, to exchange key data of the two individual members between themselves via short range wireless communication,

wherein the key data comprises a URL, or an identifier associated with the URL;

a database of physical location histories of members of the network maintained by the server computer, the database including entries of the key data that was exchanged during the physical encounters, the database correlating each member of the network to at least one other member of the network based on the physical encounters,

wherein the server computer is in communication with the mobile communication devices and with the stationary communications devices so as to receive the key data exchanged during the physical encounters either automatically at the time of the physical encounter or later upon actuation by any individual member of the network.

The system of claim 6, wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the key data, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system in communication with the mobile communication devices and the stationary communication devices, wherein the global positioning system is in communication with the server computer.

The system of claim 6, wherein the mobile communication devices are also configured to capture a digital representation of a sensory image perceived by any individual member of the network and wherein the database includes a time and place entry associated with the digital representation, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system.

The system of claim 6, wherein the mobile communication devices are configured to have a text entry recorded by any individual member of the network and wherein the database includes a time and place entry associated with the text entry, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system.

10. The system of claim 6, further comprising

one or more processors having access to the database and configured to (i) respond to a search query by a searching person who is a member of the network by determining a relationship between the searching person, a useful person who is a member of the network and a first vendor of the plurality of stationary members;

and (ii) generate a search result that increases a ranking to the first vendor as a result of the relationship between the first vendor, the searching person and the useful person, wherein the relationship is such that;

(a) the useful person'"'"'s physical location history includes the first vendor; and

(b) the searching person'"'"'s physical location history and the useful person'"'"'s physical location history each include a second vendor of the plurality of stationary members.

11. The system of claim 6, further comprising

a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon a software executed by the one or more processors for:

receiving, by the one or more processors, a search query from a searching person using a client computer;

determining, by the one or more processors, a relationship between the searching person, the useful person and a first vendor of the plurality of stationary members, wherein the relationship is such that (a) the useful person'"'"'s physical location history includes the first vendor; and

(b) the searching person'"'"'s physical location history and the useful person'"'"'s physical location history each include a second vendor of the plurality of stationary members;

generating a search result that increases a ranking of the first vendor as a result of the relationship between the first vendor and the searching person and the useful person; and

transmitting over a network, by the one or more processors, the search results to the client computer.

12. A method of generating physical location histories of at least one of (i) stationary members and (ii) individual members, the stationary members having a physical premises, comprising:

positioning a stationary communication device on the physical premises of each stationary member of a plurality of stationary members, wherein each stationary member is a member of a network;

during physical encounters between two individual members of the network, exchanging key data of each of the two individual members of the network between them using their mobile communication devices utilizing a short range communications protocol, the mobile communication devices configured to be handheld and configured to both transmit and receive key data;

during physical encounters in which an individual member of the network enters the premises of the stationary member of the plurality of stationary members, exchanging key data of the stationary member and of the individual member entering the premises of the stationary member using the mobile communication device of the individual member who entered the premises and the stationary communication device of the stationary member whose premises were entered,

wherein the key data is exchanged when a member of the network initiates a transmission or is automatically implemented under preset conditions, wherein the key data of any individual member of the network comprises a URL or an identifier associated with the URL;

maintaining, using a server computer associated with the network, a database of physical location histories of members, the database comprising key data that was transmitted during the physical encounters, the database correlating each member of the network to at least one other member of the network based on the physical encounters; and

using a server computer to communicate with the mobile communication devices and with the stationary communications devices so as to receive the key data exchanged during the physical encounters either at the time of the physical encounter or later.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the key data, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system in communication with the mobile communication devices.

The method of claim 12, wherein the mobile communication devices are configured to capture a digital representation of a sensory image perceived by any individual member of the network and wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the digital representations, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the mobile communication devices are configured to have a text entry recorded by any individual member and wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the text entry, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system.

16. A method of generating physical location histories, comprising:

maintaining a server computer associated with a network;

using mobile communication devices configured to be handheld, to transmit key data to the server computer upon a physical encounter between two members of the network, one of whom is an individual member and another of whom is a stationary member of a plurality of stationary members, the stationary member having a physical premises, the transmission of the key data being implemented when the individual member enters the physical premises of the vendor automatically or by actuation by one of the two members of the network,

wherein the key data of the individual member comprises a URL of the individual member or an identifier associated with the URL, and wherein the key data of the stationary member comprises a URL of the stationary member or an identifier associated with the stationary member'"'"'s URL;

receiving, by the server computer, entries of key data from the mobile communication devices; and

maintaining, using the server computer, a database of physical location histories of the individual members and stationary members, the database comprising the key data that was transmitted during the physical encounters, the database correlating each member of the network to at least one other member of the network based on the physical encounters.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the key data, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system in communication with the mobile communication devices.

The method of claim 16, wherein the mobile communication devices are configured to capture a digital representation of a sensory image perceived by any individual member of the network and wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the digital representations, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system.

The method of claim 16, wherein the mobile communication devices are configured to have a text entry recorded by any individual member of the network and wherein the database includes a time and place of entry associated with the text entry, the place of entry determined by a global positioning system.
