Abstract

A method and a device for the automated adaptation of a brightness of at least one light for a vehicle. The method includes a step of determining a position and/or a moving direction of the vehicle relative to a first and/or second national territory; a step of ascertaining data that represent a brightness requirement for the at least one light as a function of the position and/or moving direction of the vehicle; and a step of the automated adaptation of the brightness of at least one light as a function of the ascertained data.

Claims

1. A method for the automated adaptation of a brightness of at least one light for a vehicle, the method comprising:

determining at least one of a position of the vehicle and a moving direction of the vehicle, relative to at least one of a first national territory and a second national territory;

ascertaining data that represent a brightness requirement for the at least one light as a function of the at least one of the position of the vehicle and the moving direction of the vehicle; and

performing the automated adaptation of the brightness of the at least one light as a function of the ascertained data.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the position of the vehicle is determined by ascertaining in which of the at least one of the first national territory and the second national territory the vehicle is located.

3. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the moving direction of the vehicle is determined by sensing whether the vehicle undershoots a first distance to a predefined second distance to a border between the first national territory and the second national territory.

4. The method as recited in claim 3, wherein a GPS sensor ascertains the at least one of the first national territory, the second national territory, and the first distance to the border.

5. The method as recited in claim 3, wherein at least one of the first national territory, the second national territory, and the first distance to the border, is ascertained by a road-sign recognition.

The method as recited in claim 4, wherein at least one of the first national territory, the second national territory, and the first distance to the border, is ascertained by a road-sign recognition, and wherein the ascertainment by the road-sign recognition is used as a plausibility check on the ascertainment by the GPS sensor.

7. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein at least one of:

(i) the data are ascertained by retrieving them from an external server, and (ii) the data are ascertained by retrieving them from a navigation system in the vehicle.

8. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the automated adaptation of the brightness of the at least one light is performed one of:

(i) in that the brightness is reduced only upon crossing the border from the first national territory into the second national territory, as a function of the ascertained data, or (ii) in that the brightness is already increased before crossing the border from the first national territory into the second national territory as a function of the ascertained data.

9. A device for adapting a brightness of at least one light for a vehicle, the device comprising:

a first arrangement to determine at least one of a position of the vehicle and a moving direction of the vehicle, relative to a national territory;

a second arrangement to ascertain data that represent a brightness requirement for the at least one light as a function of the at least one of the position of the vehicle and the moving direction of the vehicle; and

a third arrangement to adapt the brightness of the at least one light as a function of the ascertained data.

10. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein the position of the vehicle is determined by ascertaining in which of a first national territory and a second national territory the vehicle is located.
