Abstract
Systems and methods for using a communication system in a spectrum are provided. For example, a random access or RACH procedure may be performed where the random access or RACH procedure may be configured to reduce secondary interference and/or to be used in a pixel-based environment. The random access or RACH procedure may include selecting a RACH preamble; sending a RACH preamble and/or format information; determining a transmission power of the RACH preamble and/or the format information; determining a random access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI) and preamble ID associated with the RACH preamble; and/or selecting a physical RACH (PRACH).

59. A method for performing random access transmission in a communication system by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
-
identifying a timing for sending a plurality of short random access channel (RACH) preambles, wherein the plurality of short RACH preambles comprise a first and a second short RACH preamble that each has a shorter time duration than eight hundred micro seconds; transmitting the first short RACH preamble of the plurality of short RACH preambles based on the identified timing; and transmitting the second short RACH preamble of the plurality of short RACH preambles, the second short RACH preamble being the same as the first short RACH preamble at least in length or in power.
