1. A real-time embedded server system for controlling, in real-time, at least one infusion pump, the embedded server system comprising:
- a plurality of infusion pumps, wherein each of the infusion pumps includes a pumping mechanism and programmable circuitry configured to receive control commands and control operation of the pumping mechanism;
an embedded server including a memory and a processor electrically coupled to the memory and configured to implement;
a control engine configured to issue control commands to at least one infusion pump, the control commands related to the operation of the at least one infusion pump,a messaging engine configured to issue messages to and receive messages from the at least one infusion pump,an aggregation engine configured to aggregate data related to the operation of the at least one infusion pump, anda networking engine; and
a network operably coupling the plurality of infusion pumps and the embedded server, wherein the networking engine is configured to control network access of the embedded server and the at least one infusion pump.
