Abstract

Some embodiments provide a non-transitory machine-readable medium that stores a program. The program receives from an application a set of data objects for transmission to a computing system. The set of data objects have a type. The program further identifies a data handler definition from a plurality of data handler definitions based on the type of the set of data objects. Each data handler definition in the plurality of data handler definitions specifies a type of data object and a communication protocol. The program also transmits the set of data objects to the computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified data handler definition.

Claims

1. A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing a program executable by at least one processing unit of a computing device, the program comprising sets of instructions for:

receiving from an application a set of data objects for transmission to a computing system, the set of data objects having a type;

identifying a data handler definition from a plurality of data handler definitions based on the type of the set of data objects, each data handler definition in the plurality of data handler definitions specifying a type of data object and a communication protocol; and

transmitting the set of data objects to the computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified data handler definition.

2. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the set of data objects is a first set of data objects having a first type, wherein the data handler definition is a first data handler definition, wherein the program further comprises sets of instructions for:

receiving from the application a second set of data objects for transmission to the computing system, the second set of data objects having a second type different from the first type;

identifying a second data handler definition from the plurality of data handler definitions based on the second type of the second set of data objects; and

transmitting the second set of data objects to the computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified second data handler definition.

The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the set of data objects is a first set of data objects having a first type, wherein the computing system is a first computing system, wherein the data handler definition is a first data handler definition, wherein the program further comprises sets of instructions for:

receiving from the application a second set of data objects for transmission to a second computing system, the second set of data objects having a second type different from the first type;

identifying a second data handler definition from the plurality of data handler definitions based on the second type of the second set of data objects; and

transmitting the second set of data objects to the second computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified second data handler definition.

The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein each data handler definition in the plurality of data handler definitions further specifies a data format, wherein the program further comprises a set of instructions for, prior to transmitting the set of data objects, converting a format of the set of data objects into the data format specified in the identified data handler definition.

The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein each data object in the set of data objects comprises an object identifier, wherein the program further comprises a set of instructions for, prior to transmitting the set of data objects, logging the object identifier and type of each data object in the set of data objects.

6. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 5, wherein the program further comprises sets of instructions for:

receiving from the computing system a set of transmission results, each transmission result in the set of transmission results comprising a message indicating a status of the transmission of a data object in the set of data objects to the computing system, the object identifier of the data object, and the type of the data object; and

logging, for each data object in the set of data objects, the message in the transmission result associated with the data object, the object identifier of the data object, and the type of the data object.

The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the program further comprises sets of instructions for splitting the set of data objects into a set of data object packages, each data object package comprising one or more data objects in the set of data objects, wherein transmitting the set of data objects is based on the set of data object packages.

8. A method comprising:

receiving from an application a set of data objects for transmission to a computing system, the set of data objects having a type;

identifying a data handler definition from a plurality of data handler definitions based on the type of the set of data objects, each data handler definition in the plurality of data handler definitions specifying a type of data object and a communication protocol; and

transmitting the set of data objects to the computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified data handler definition.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the set of data objects is a first set of data objects having a first type, wherein the data handler definition is a first data handler definition, wherein the method further comprises:

receiving from the application a second set of data objects for transmission to the computing system, the second set of data objects having a second type different from the first type;

identifying a second data handler definition from the plurality of data handler definitions based on the second type of the second set of data objects; and

transmitting the second set of data objects to the computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified second data handler definition.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the set of data objects is a first set of data objects having a first type, wherein the computing system is a first computing system, wherein the data handler definition is a first data handler definition, wherein the method further comprises:

receiving from the application a second set of data objects for transmission to a second computing system, the second set of data objects having a second type different from the first type;

identifying a second data handler definition from the plurality of data handler definitions based on the second type of the second set of data objects; and

transmitting the second set of data objects to the second computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified second data handler definition.

The method of claim 8, wherein each data handler definition in the plurality of data handler definitions further specifies a data format, wherein the method further comprises, prior to transmitting the set of data objects, converting a format of the set of data objects into the data format specified in the identified data handler definition.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein each data object in the set of data objects comprises an object identifier, wherein the method further comprises, prior to transmitting the set of data objects, logging the object identifier and type of each data object in the set of data objects.

13. The method of claim 12 further comprising:

receiving from the computing system a set of transmission results, each transmission result in the set of transmission results comprising a message indicating a status of the transmission of a data object in the set of data objects to the computing system, the object identifier of the data object, and the type of the data object; and

logging, for each data object in the set of data objects, the message in the transmission result associated with the data object, the object identifier of the data object, and the type of the data object.

14. The method of claim 8 further comprising splitting the set of data objects into a set of data object packages, each data object package comprising one or more data objects in the set of data objects, wherein transmitting the set of data objects is based on the set of data object packages.

15. A first computing system comprising:

a set of processing units; and

a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that when executed by at least one processing unit in the set of processing units cause the at least one processing unit to;

receive from an application a set of data objects for transmission to a second computing system, the set of data objects having a type;

identify a data handler definition from a plurality of data handler definitions based on the type of the set of data objects, each data handler definition in the plurality of data handler definitions specifying a type of data object and a communication protocol; and

transmit the set of data objects to the second computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified data handler definition.

16. The first computing system of claim 15, wherein the set of data objects is a first set of data objects having a first type, wherein the data handler definition is a first data handler definition, wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processing unit to:

receive from the application a second set of data objects for transmission to the second computing system, the second set of data objects having a second type different from the first type;

identify a second data handler definition from the plurality of data handler definitions based on the second type of the second set of data objects; and

transmit the second set of data objects to the second computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified second data handler definition.

17. The first computing system of claim 15, wherein the set of data objects is a first set of data objects having a first type, wherein the data handler definition is a first data handler definition, wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processing unit to:

receive from the application a second set of data objects for transmission to a third computing system, the second set of data objects having a second type different from the first type;

identify a second data handler definition from the plurality of data handler definitions based on the second type of the second set of data objects; and

transmit the second set of data objects to the third computing system using the communication protocol specified in the identified second data handler definition.

The first computing system of claim 15, wherein each data handler definition in the plurality of data handler definitions further specifies a data format, wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processing unit to, prior to transmitting the set of data objects, convert a format of the set of data objects into the data format specified in the identified data handler definition.

The first computing system of claim 15, wherein each data object in the set of data objects comprises an object identifier, wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processing unit to, prior to transmitting the set of data objects, log the object identifier and type of each data object in the set of data objects.

20. The first computing system of claim 19, wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processing unit to:

receive from the system a set of transmission results, each transmission result in the set of transmission results comprising a message indicating a status of the transmission of a data object in the set of data objects to the system, the object identifier of the data object, and the type of the data object; and

log, for each data object in the set of data objects, the message in the transmission result associated with the data object, the object identifier of the data object, and the type of the data object.
