Abstract

Various embodiments provide a mobile communication device, such as a mobile communication device, with functions including telecommunications capabilities, breath sensory functions and, in some instances, environmental air sensing functions. The breath sensory functions can be used to measure alcohol levels, as well as to detect properties that pertain to various health conditions and issues. The environmental air sensing functions can, in at least some embodiments, be provided along with the breath sensory functions.

Claims

1. A method for performing breath analysis comprising:

receiving, using an intake element mounted on a mobile communication device, breath input from a user;

sensing, using one or more sensors mounted on the mobile communication device, one or more properties associated with the breath input;

causing analysis of the one or more properties using a breath analysis module mounted on the mobile communication device;

providing, by the mobile communication device, a notification describing one or more results of analysis of the one or more properties associated with the breath input.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the intake element comprises a slidably deployable tube mounted on the mobile communication device.

3. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the intake element comprises a slidably deployable tube comprising part of a modular attachment that is detachably connected to the mobile communication device.

4. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the intake element comprises a slidably deployable tube comprising part of a modular attachment that is detachably connected to a backside of the mobile communication device.

5. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more properties include alcohol content associated with the breath input.

6. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more properties pertain to health-related issues.

7. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein said causing analysis of the one or properties comprises transmitting information or data associated with the one or more properties to a third-party provider.

8. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein said causing analysis of the one or properties comprises transmitting information or data associated with the one or more properties to a third-party provider;

and said providing a notification comprises receiving information from the third-party provider and providing a notification that includes the information provided by the third-party provider.

9. A device comprising:

a mobile communication device;

an intake element mounted on the mobile communication device;

one or more sensors mounted on the mobile communication device; and

a breath analysis module mounted on the mobile communication device;

wherein the intake element, one or more sensors and breath analysis module are configured to implement operations comprising;

receiving, using the intake element, breath input from a user;

sensing, using the one or more sensors, one or more properties associated with the breath input;

causing analysis of the one or more properties using the breath analysis module; and

providing, by the mobile communication device, a notification describing one or more results of analysis of the one or more properties associated with the breath input.

10. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein the intake element comprises a slidably deployable tube mounted on the mobile communication device.

11. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein the intake element, the one or more sensors and the breath analysis module comprise part of a modular attachment that is detachably connected to the mobile communication device.

12. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein the intake element comprises a slidably deployable tube comprising part of a modular attachment that is detachably connected to a backside of the mobile communication device.

13. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein the one or more properties include alcohol content associated with the breath input.

14. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein the one or more properties pertain to health-related issues.

15. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein said causing analysis of the one or properties comprises transmitting information or data associated with the one or more properties to a third-party provider.

16. The device as recited in claim 9, wherein said causing analysis of the one or properties comprises transmitting information or data associated with the one or more properties to a third-party provider, and said providing a notification comprises receiving information from the third-party provider and providing a notification that includes the information provided by the third-party provider.

17. A device comprising:

a modular attachment configured to be detachably connected to a mobile communication device;

an intake element mounted on the modular attachment;

one or more sensors mounted on the modular attachment; and

a breath analysis module mounted on the modular attachment;

wherein the intake element, one or more sensors and breath analysis module are configured to implement operations comprising;

receiving, using the intake element, breath input from a user;

sensing, using the one or more sensors, one or more properties associated with the breath input;

causing analysis of the one or more properties using the breath analysis module sufficient to enable a notification to be provided by the mobile communication device, the notification describing one or more results of analysis of the one or more properties associated with the breath input.

18. The device as recited in claim 17, wherein the intake element comprises a slidably deployable tube.

19. The device as recited in claim 17, wherein the one or more properties include alcohol content associated with the breath input.

20. The device as recited in claim 17, wherein the one or more properties pertain to health-related issues.
