Abstract

A display apparatus includes: an image processor; a display unit; a remote controller which includes a touch input unit to detect motion of a user; a remote control signal receiver which receives a remote control signal from the remote controller corresponding to the motion of a user; and a controller which displays the content information window as if the content information window enters from an outside of a display area to an inside of the display area in accordance with the motion that a user moves from an outside of an area of the touch input unit to an inside of the area, or stops displaying the content information window as if the content information window exits from the inside of the display area to the outside of the display area in accordance with the motion that a user moves from the inside of the area of the touch input unit to the outside of the touch input unit.

Claims

1. A display device comprising:

a display;

a communicator configured to receive wireless signals from an input device; and

a processor configured to control the display to;

provide a user interface (UI) menu including a plurality of pages, wherein each of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of UI items and belongs to a respective one of a plurality of categories;

display a first page of a first category over a content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator, wireless signals corresponding to a first input, wherein the first page of the first category comprises a plurality of first UI items;

display a first indicator representing a selection of a first UI item from among the plurality of first UI items while the first page is displayed;

display a second indicator representing a selection of a second UI item from among the plurality of first UI items, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator, wireless signals corresponding to a second input; and

display a second page of a second category, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator while the first page of the first category is displayed, wireless signals corresponding to a third input,

wherein one of the plurality of categories comprises UI items indicating television channels arranged in a grid.

2. The display device according to claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to control the display to display a second UI over the content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator, wireless signals corresponding to a fourth input.

3. The display device according to claim 1, wherein the wireless signals from the input device correspond to selection of at least one of a plurality of buttons of the input device by a user.

4. The display device according to claim 3, wherein the wireless signals corresponding to the first input is received based on selection of the button corresponding to a first direction among the plurality of buttons.

5. The display device according to claim 3, wherein the wireless signals corresponding to the second input is received based on selection of the button corresponding to a second direction perpendicular to the first direction among the plurality of buttons.

6. The display device according to claim 3, wherein the wireless signals corresponding to the third input is received based on selection of the button corresponding to a third direction parallel to the first direction among the plurality of buttons.

7. The display device according to claim 1, further comprising an image signal receiver configured to receive an image signal corresponding to the content image.

8. The display device according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of first UI items comprise a thumbnail image.

9. The display device according to claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to display a first page by sliding in the first page over the content image.

10. A control method of a display device, the control method comprising:

communicating with an input device;

displaying a content image on a display of the display device;

providing a user interface (UI) menu including a plurality of pages, wherein each of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of UI items and belongs to a respective one of a plurality of categories;

displaying a first page of a first category over the content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device, wireless signals corresponding to a first input, wherein the first page of the first category comprises a plurality of first UI items;

displaying a first indicator representing a selection of a first UI item from among the plurality of first UI items while the first page is displayed;

displaying a second indicator representing a selection of a second UI item from among the plurality of first UI items, in response to receiving, from the input device, wireless signals corresponding to a second input; and

displaying a second page of a second category, in response to receiving, from the input device while the first page of the first category is displayed, wireless signals corresponding to a third input,

wherein one of the plurality of categories comprises UI items indicating television channels arranged in grid.

11. The control method according to claim 10, wherein further comprising:

displaying a second UI over the content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device, wireless signals corresponding to a fourth input.

12. The control method according to claim 10, wherein the wireless signals from the input device correspond to selection of at least one of a plurality of buttons of the input device by a user.

13. The control method according to claim 12, wherein the wireless signals corresponding to the first input is received based on selection of the button corresponding to a first direction among the plurality of buttons.

14. The control method according to claim 12, wherein the wireless signals corresponding to the second input is received based on selection of the button corresponding to a second direction perpendicular to the first direction among the plurality of buttons.

15. The control method according to claim 12, wherein the wireless signals corresponding to the third input is received based on selection of the button corresponding to a third direction parallel to the first direction among the plurality of buttons.

16. The control method according to claim 10, wherein each of the plurality of first UI items comprise a thumbnail image.

17. A system comprising:

an input device configured to receive a user input; and

a display device comprising;

a display;

a communicator configured to receive wireless signals corresponding to the user input from the input device; and

a processor configured to control the display to;

provide a user interface (UI) menu including a plurality of pages, wherein each of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of UI items and belongs to a respective one of a plurality of categories;

display a first page of a first category over a content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator, wireless signals corresponding to a first input, wherein the first page of the first category comprises a plurality of first UI items;

display a first indicating representing a selection of a first UI item from among the plurality of first UI items while the first page is displayed;

display a second indicator representing a selection of a second UI item from among the plurality of first UI items, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator, wireless signals corresponding to a second input; and

display a second page of a second category, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator while the first page of the first category is displayed, wireless signals corresponding to a third input,

wherein one of the plurality of categories comprises UI items indicating television channels arranged in grid.

18. The system according to claim 17, wherein the processor is further configured to control the display to display a second UI over the content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device via the communicator, wireless signals corresponding to a fourth input.

19. The system according to claim 17, wherein the wireless signals from the input device correspond to selection of at least one of a plurality of buttons of the input device by a user.

20. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing instructions of a method to be executed by a processor of a display device, the method comprising:

communicating with an input device;

displaying a content image on a display of the display device;

providing a user interface (UI) menu including a plurality of pages, wherein each of the plurality of pages includes a plurality of UI items and belongs to a respective one of a plurality of categories;

displaying a first page of a first category over the content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device, wireless signals corresponding to a first input, wherein the first page of the first category comprises a plurality of first UI items;

displaying a first indicator representing a selection of a first UI item from among the plurality of first UI items while the first page is displayed;

displaying a second indicator representing a selection of a second UI item from among the plurality of first UI items, in response to receiving, from the input device, wireless signals corresponding to a second input; and

displaying a second page of a second category, in response to receiving, from the input device while the first page of the first category is displayed, wireless signals corresponding to a third input,

wherein one of the plurality of categories comprises UI items indicating television channels arranged in grid.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable recording medium according to claim 20, wherein further comprising:

displaying a second UI over the content image displayed on the display, in response to receiving, from the input device, wireless signals corresponding to a fourth input.
