1. A system, comprising:
- a stopping distance module that determines a stopping distance for a first vehicle approaching a geographic location;
a determination module that, in response to determining the stopping distance, determines whether the first vehicle will stop prior to reaching the geographic location; and
a signal module that, in response to determining that the first vehicle will not stop prior to reaching the geographic location, modifies a signal of a traffic light located at the geographic location.

Abstract
Smart traffic signal methods are provided. One method includes determining a stopping distance for a vehicle approaching a geographic location and, in response to determining the stopping distance, determining whether the first vehicle will stop prior to reaching the geographic location. The method further includes, in response to determining that the vehicle will not stop prior to reaching the geographic location, modifying a signal of a traffic light located at the geographic location. Systems and computer program products for performing the above method are also provided.

-
determining, by a processor, a stopping distance for a first vehicle approaching a geographic location; in response to determining the stopping distance, determining whether the first vehicle will stop prior to reaching the geographic location; and in response to determining that the first vehicle will not stop prior to reaching the geographic location, modifying a signal of a traffic light located at the geographic location. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16)

17. A computer program product comprising a computer-readable storage medium including program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by a processor to cause the processor to:
-
determine a stopping distance for a first vehicle approaching a geographic location; in response to determining the stopping distance, determine whether the first vehicle will stop prior to reaching the geographic location; and in response to determining that the first vehicle will not stop prior to reaching the geographic location, modify a signal of a traffic light located at the geographic location. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20)
