Abstract

The present invention comprises systems, methods and devices for the delivery of compositions for occluding or of means for opening conduits. The implantable occlusive material may be delivered pre-formed or in situ cured and, may be a resorbable material that supports tissue ingrowth that eventually replaces the material leaving little or no original material in place. The delivery system is positioned to allow for placement of the occlusive material into the body conduit. Use of delivery systems, methods and devices for re-opening an occluded body conduit are also included.

29. A method for occluding at least one fallopian tube in a mammal, comprising,

a) positioning at the cornua of at least one fallopian tube of a mammal, an end structure of at least one catheter so that a delivery end of the catheter is located within the uterine cornua and is at or near a tubal ostium, wherein the end structure maintains the delivery end in the uterine cornua and aids in localized delivery of the occlusive material composition;

b) delivering an effective amount of an occlusive material composition through and out the delivery end of the catheter so that a fallopian tube is occluded, wherein the occlusive material composition comprises a material that polymerizes after delivery of the occlusive material composition.

30. The method of claim 29, wherein the end structure comprises a nozzle, balloon, or a cup.

31. The method of claim 29, further comprising,

c) withdrawing the at least one catheter.

32. The method of claim 29, further comprising, imaging with sonography the uterus, the at least one fallopian tube or both, before the step a).

33. The method of claim 31, further comprising, imaging with sonography the uterus, the at least one fallopian tube or both, before step a) or after step c).

34. The method of claim 31, further comprising imaging with sonography the uterus, the at least one fallopian tube or both, before step a) and after step c).

35. A method for occluding two fallopian tubes in a mammal, comprising,

a) positioning at the cornua of each of two fallopian tubes of a mammal, an end structure of a catheter so that a delivery end of the catheter is located within the uterine cornua and is at or near a tubal ostium, wherein the end structure maintains the delivery end in the uterine cornua and aids in localized delivery of the occlusive material composition;

b) delivering an effective amount of an occlusive material composition through and out the delivery end of each of the catheters so that a fallopian tube is occluded, wherein the occlusive material composition comprises a material that polymerizes after delivery of the occlusive material composition.

36. The method of claim 35, wherein the end structure comprises a nozzle, balloon, or a cup.

37. The method of claim 35, further comprising,

c) withdrawing the at least one catheter.

38. The method of claim 35, further comprising, imaging with sonography the uterus, the two fallopian tubes or both, before the step a).

39. The method of claim 37, further comprising, imaging with sonography the uterus, the two fallopian tubes or both, before step a) or after step c).

40. The method of claim 37, further comprising imaging with sonography the uterus, the two fallopian tubes or both, before step a) and after step c).

41. A method for delivering a fluid composition to at least one fallopian tubes in a mammal, comprising,

a) positioning at the cornua of at least one fallopian tube of a mammal, an end structure of at least one catheter so that a delivery end of the catheter is located within the uterine cornua and is at or near a tubal ostium, wherein the end structure maintains the delivery end in the uterine cornua and aids in localized delivery of the fluid composition;

b) delivering an effective amount of the fluid composition through and out the delivery end of the catheter so that at least a portion of the fluid composition is delivered to a fallopian tub.

42. The method of claim 41, wherein the end structure comprises a nozzle, balloon, or a cup.

43. The method of claim 41, further comprising,

c) withdrawing the at least one catheter.

44. The method of claim 41, further comprising, imaging with sonography the uterus, the at least one fallopian tube or both, before the step a).

45. The method of claim 43, further comprising, imaging with sonography the uterus, the at least one fallopian tube or both, before step a) or after step c).

46. The method of claim 43, further comprising imaging with sonography the uterus, the at least one fallopian tube or both, before step a) and after step c).
