Abstract

A wireless power receiver for transferring a power received from a wireless power transmitter to a load, the wireless power receiver including a receiving coil configured to receive an AC power from the wireless power transmitter, a rectifier configured to rectify the AC power into a DC power and a controller configured to monitor a DC voltage at an output of the rectifier, in which the wireless power receiver transceives information with the wireless power transmitter through an in-band communication, and the controller creates a control signal to adjust the AC power received from the wireless power transmitter and continuously is configured to charge the load when a charging state is changed.

Claims

1. A wireless power receiver receiving power from a wireless power transmitter and transmitting the power to a load, the wireless power receiver comprising:

a receiving coil configured to receive AC power from the wireless power transmitter;

a rectifier configured to rectify the AC power into DC power; and

a controller configured to monitor DC voltage at an output of the rectifier,

wherein the wireless power receiver transmits and receives information with the wireless power transmitter through in-band communication, and

wherein the controller creates a control signal to adjust the AC power from the wireless power transmitter and continuously charges the load, when a charging state is changed.

2. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the wireless power receiver transceives information with the wireless power transmitter at predetermined intervals.

3. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the control signal comprises a request signal to increase the AC power from the wireless power transmitter.

4. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the control signal comprises a request signal to maintain the AC power from the wireless power transmitter.

5. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, wherein the control signal comprises a request signal to decrease the AC power from the wireless power transmitter.

6. The wireless power receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a capacitor configured to charge the DC voltage;

a comparator configured to compare a voltage of the capacitor with a reference voltage and generate an output signal based on the comparison result to control a supply of the DC voltage to the load; and

a modulator disposed between the receiving coil and the rectifier and modulated according to the control signal of the controller,

wherein the information is supplied from the receiving coil to a transmitting coil of the wireless power transmitter by modulation of the modulator.

7. The wireless power receiver of claim 6, further comprising:

a switch connected between the rectifier and the capacitor,

wherein the switch is switched based on the output signal of the comparator to control a supply of the DC voltage to the load.

8. The wireless power receiver of claim 6, further comprising:

a signal detector configured to detect a signal from the rectifier,

wherein the controller is configured to recognize the charging state based on the signal detected by the signal detector.

9. The wireless power receiver of claim 6, wherein the reference voltage is an optimal charging voltage suitable for charging the load.

10. The wireless power receiver of claim 7, wherein when the voltage of the capacitor is higher than the reference voltage, the switch is open based on the output signal of the comparator and the voltage of the capacitor is supplied to the load.

The wireless power receiver of claim 10, wherein, after the capacitor is discharged due to the supply of the voltage of the capacitor to the load, when the voltage of the capacitor is lower than the reference voltage, the switch is turned on based on the output signal of the comparator and the DC voltage is charged in the capacitor so that the voltage of the capacitor is increased.

12. The wireless power receiver of claim 11, wherein when the voltage of the capacitor is higher than the reference voltage due to the increase of the voltage in the capacitor, the switch is open based on the output signal of the comparator and the voltage of the capacitor is supplied to the load.

13. The wireless power receiver of claim 12, wherein while the DC voltage higher than the reference voltage is being supplied, the switch is repeatedly turned on and off and the capacitor is repeatedly charged and discharged so that the voltage of the capacitor is charged in the load.

14. The wireless power receiver of claim 13, wherein the voltage of the capacitor has a pulse waveform approximate to a pulse waveform of the reference voltage due to the charge and discharge of the capacitor.

15. The wireless power receiver of claim 14, wherein the voltage of the capacitor is within a range of ±

10% to ±

30% based on the reference voltage.

16. The wireless power receiver of claim 7, wherein when the voltage of the capacitor is lower than the reference voltage, the switch is turned on based on the output signal of the comparator and the DC voltage is supplied to the capacitor and the load.

17. A wireless power receiving method of a wireless power receiver receiving power from a wireless power transmitter and transmitting the power to a load, the wireless power receiving method comprising:

receiving, by a receiving coil, AC power from the wireless power transmitter;

rectifying, by a rectifier, the AC power into DC power;

monitoring, by a controller, DC voltage at an output of the rectifier;

transceiving information with the wireless power transmitter through in-band communication; and

creating a control signal to adjust the AC power from the wireless power transmitter and continuously charging the load when a charging state is changed.

18. The wireless power receiving method of claim 17, wherein the transceiving of the information comprises transceiving the information with the wireless power transmitter at predetermined intervals.

19. The wireless power receiving method of claim 17, wherein the control signal comprises:

a first request signal to increase the AC power from the wireless power transmitter;

a second request signal to maintain the AC power from the wireless power transmitter; and

a third request signal to decrease the AC power from the wireless power transmitter.

20. The wireless power receiving method of claim 17, further comprising;

charging a capacitor with the DC power;

comparing a voltage of the capacitor with the reference voltage and generating an output signal according to the comparison result; and

switching a switch connected to a front end of the capacitor based on the output signal to control a supply of the DC power to the load.
