21. A system for measuring an analyte concentration in a host, the system comprising:
-
a sensor system comprising; a first component comprising a sensor configured to measure an analyte concentration in the host and electrical contacts operably coupled to the sensor, and a second component configured to be attached to the first component by the host at the start of a sensor session, wherein the second component comprises sensor electronics connectable to the sensor through the electrical contacts of the first component when the second component is attached to the first component by the host, and wherein the sensor electronics also comprises an RF transceiver for wireless communications; and a receiver comprising; an RF transceiver configured for wireless communications with the sensor electronics, a processor configured to receive sensor information from the sensor system and to process the sensor information received from the sensor system, and a display configured to display an estimated analyte concentration value associated with the sensor information; wherein the sensor electronics comprises a memory storing a serial number associated with the sensor system; wherein the sensor electronics is configured to transmit the serial number to the receiver to identify the sensor system being used by the host; and wherein the first component and second component are further both labeled alphanumerically.
