Abstract

Methods and apparatus for efficiently directing communications are disclosed. On example entails receiving, from a mobile terminal, a communication directed to a cellular communication network, the communication being received in an alternative channel that differs from a channel of the cellular communication network. The communication is then converted for a relayed communication to the cellular communication network on behalf of the mobile terminal, the relayed communication being made through the cellular communication network.

11. A wireless HUB with a device identifier comprising:

an interface configured to receive, from a mobile terminal, a wireless communication directed to a cellular communication network, the wireless communication being received through a wireless communication channel that differs from a channel of the cellular communication network;

an output interface configured to relay the wireless communication to the cellular communication network,

a WiFi communication interface configured for communications through a WiFi network; and

a decoder,

wherein the device identifier is associated with a network address corresponding to the WiFi network;

wherein the wireless HUB is configured to connect to Internet via the WiFi network;

wherein the wireless HUB is further configured to receive a signal through the WiFi network and convert the signal for production of corresponding multimedia information content on a screen;

wherein the signal comprises a compressed signal;

wherein the compressed signal comprises is a high definition digital video signal;

and

wherein the decoder is configured to decode the compressed signal.

12. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless HUB further comprises an encoder;

wherein the encoder is configured to encode the decompressed signal to produce an encoded signal, the encoded signal comprising a decompressed high definition digital video signal;

wherein the high definition digital output interface is configured to transmit the encoded signal;

wherein the conversion comprises said decompressing, by the decoder, further followed by encoding, by the encoder, the decompressed signal produced by the decoder to produce the encoded signal for transmission through the high definition digital output interface; and

wherein the buffer is configured to accommodate a buffering and processing rate sufficient for said processing in support of the production of a corresponding multimedia content on a high definition digital display.

13. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein information matching the wireless HUB and the mobile terminal is stored in a mapping table;

15. The wireless HUB of claim 12, wherein the wireless communication channel comprises one or more of:

a wireless local area network, a Bluetooth connection, a UWB connection, a WiFi, an NFC, and an Infrared communication.

16. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless communication channel is through the WiFi network.

17. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless communication is a call.

18. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless HUB is further configured to communicate, through a network communication channel, information for managing a home device or an office device in connection with a short range wireless communication regarding an updated status associated with the home device or the office device;

wherein the network communication channel is separate from a short range wireless channel for the short range wireless communication.

The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless HUB is further configured to provide, through a configuration application, configured data in initiating communications that are directed to a wireless home device or a wireless office device, the configured data comprising information corresponding to a network identifier corresponding to a wireless local area network and information corresponding to an identifier associated with the wireless home device or the wireless office device.

20. The wireless HUB of claim 12, wherein the buffer is configured to accommodate a buffering and processing rate that are sufficient for said processing in support of a real time production of the corresponding multimedia content.

21. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the mobile terminal is configured to send a request for information content for production on a digital television.

22. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless HUB is a cellular phone.

23. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless HUB is further configured to receive information regarding an updated status detected by a sensing device, the device identifier being associated with a unique identifier of the sensing device;

and wherein the updated status is associated with a wireless home device or a wireless office device; and

wherein the wireless home device or the wireless office device is one or more of;

a fire alarm;

a theft alarm;

a video camera;

a television;

a temperature detector;

a printer;

a game controller;

a monitor;

a headset;

a refrigerator;

a PALM;

a handset;

a home appliance;

or an office appliance.

The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless HUB is further configured to communicate, through a network communication channel, information for managing a home device or an office device in connection with a short range wireless communication regarding an updated status associated with the home device or the office device;

wherein the network communication channel is separate from a short range wireless channel for the short range wireless communication.

25. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless HUB is configured to be an access point for a cellular network.

26. The wireless HUB of claim 12, wherein the mobile terminal is configured to transmit the encoded signal to a high definition digital television via a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) and an HDMI cable.

29. The wireless HUB of claim 11, wherein the wireless communication is relayed to the cellular communication network directly.

30. The wireless HUB of claim 12, wherein the wireless communication channel is through the WiFi network.

14. The wireless HUB of 11, wherein the wireless communication is encrypted.

27. The wireless HUB of claim 28, wherein the wireless HUB is a cellular phone;

wherein the mobile terminal is configured to receive power via a cable and through the high definition digital output interface, the cable connected to the high definition digital output interface, the encoded signal being transmitted through the high definition digital output interface to the cable.
