Abstract

A neck protector attachable to infant'"'"''"'"'s clothing to protect the wearer from the top and head of a slide fastener. The neck protector is detachably fastened to both the inside and outside of a child'"'"''"'"'s garment fastening about the collar and neck band.

Claims

1. An article of clothing with a neck opening adaptable for fitting about the neck of a wearer fitted with a slide fastener which extends from the neck opening of the garment In which the end of the slide fastener at the garment neck opening is enclosed by a detachable protector, said protector being formed of a flexible sheet of material of generally rectangular proportions fitted with a plurality of detachable snap fastener portions, said article of clothing being fitted with a plurality of mating snap fastener portions that may each fasten to a snap fastener portion of the protector, said snap fastener portions of the protector and on the garment located so that the protector may be fastened to both the inner and the outer sides of the garment about the end of the slide fastener at the garment neck opening so as to enclose the end opening of the slide fastener, with the snap fasteners located both on the inside surface and the exterior surface of the garment at a distance from each side of the slide fastener.

The combination as recited in claim 1 in which two snap fastener portions are located on the inside surface of the garment, one on each side of the slide fastener, and two other snap fastener portions are located on the outside surface of the garment, one on each side of the slide fastener, with four mating snap fastener portions fitted on the protector located so as to fasten the protector to the four snap fastener portions of the garment in the installed position.

3. The combination as recited in claim 2 in which the garment is a jacket and the protector is fastened to the collar of the jacket about each side of the top opening of the slide fastener of the jacket.

4. The combination as recited in claim 1 in which one corner of the protector is permanently fastened to the garment, at a distance from the slide fastener and three snap fastener portions are located on the garment to join three snap fastener portions on the protector in the installed position.
