1. A device for gradient heating of a wire comprising:

  • a vacuum chamber with a thermostatically regulated base,means for producing a temperature gradient arranged within said vacuum chamber,said means for producing a temperature gradient incorporating a metallic cylinder, a heater for heating one end of said cylinder and a cooler for cooling the other end thereof, said cooler representing said thermostatically regulated base andthe surface of said metallic cylinder being furnished with transverse grooves for locating therein a wire being heated and with a longitudinal groove for passing the wire being heated from one transverse groove into an other.
