1. A method for converting an analog input signal to a digital output signal equal to the logarithm of the ratio of said input signal to a reference signal comprising the steps of:

  • counting the cycles from a fixed frequency source for the time it takes to discharge a capacitor through a resistor from the reference signal to a calibration signal;

    storing the result;

    counting the cycles from said fixed frequency source for the time it takes to discharge said capacitor through said resistor from the reference signal to said input signal;

    dividing the result by said stored result.
