1. A coupler for sealing leaks in an existing pipe and for connecting first and second pipes in leakproof relationship comprising:

  • (a) first and second substantially identical complementary coupler members adapted to be assembled on a pipe;

    (b) each of said coupler members comprising a central semicircular portion and flanges extending laterally from said central portion;

    (c) each of said semicircular portions having a plurality of continuous longitudinally spaced transversely extending ridges thereon;

    (d) each of said semicircular portions further having a plurality continuous of circumferentially spaced longitudinally extending ridges thereon;

    (e) a liner received in each of said members for engaging a pipe in sealing relationship, said liner including a portion of semicircular cross-section engaging said semicircular portion of the corresponding coupler member;

    (f) fasteners engaging said flanges for causing said liners to be urged against the pipe in sealing relationship; and

    (g) said transversely extending ridges and said longitudinally extending ridges compressing said liner into sealing engagement with the pipe.
