1. A catalytic composite suitable for the fluidized catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons in the absence of added hydrogen comprising particles containing a binder material comprising at least one inorganic refractory metal oxide selected from the group consisting of alumina, silica, zirconia, boria, magnesia, titania and chromia, a crystalline aluminosilicate and from about 1 wt % to about 15 wt % diatomaceous earth dispersed throughout the binder material as particles having a particle size of from about 2 to about 5 microns, but not including a supported catalytically active metal or metal oxide.
