Enhanced amperometric sensor
First Claim
1. An amperometric sensor for ethyl alcohol comprisinga working electrode,an alcohol dehydrogenase,a reference electrode,an electron transfer compound, anda diamine compound disposed such that it reacts with a product formed by the action of said alcohol dehydrogenase but is essentially unable to react with said alcohol dehydrogenase, said alcohol dehydrogenase acting to convert alcohol to acetaldehyde and said electron transfer compound transferring electrons produced in said conversion to said working electrode, said electrodes thus developing a current indicative of the level of alcohol in a sample.
