1. A method for injecting a liquid into a molten metal bath, comprising the steps of:

  • a) atomizing a liquid in the presence of a gas to form a liquid dispersion having a liquid phase dispersed in a gas phase, and wherein the liquid phase has a ratio of surface area to volume which is sufficient to cause an accumulated amount of the liquid phase in the molten metal bath to be less than that which would occur by injection of a continuous stream of the liquid into the molten metal bath at an equal feed rate; and

thereafterb) directing the liquid dispersion into a molten metal bath, having a temperature which is significantly greater than the nucleation temperature of the liquid phase at the operating conditions of the molten metal bath, at a rate which is sufficient to cause liquid of the liquid phase to volatilize or decompose at a rate which is sufficient to cause the accumulation of the liquid phase in the bath to be less than that which would occur by injection of a continuous stream of the liquid into the molten metal bath at an equal feed rate.
