1. A process for exposing a patient with acoustic shock waves generated by a therapy head and conducted through the surface of the skin and into the body of the patient comprising the steps oflocating a boundary surface gap between bone and an acoustically reflective bodyby using a locating device comprising an x-ray beam imaging system and two moveable targets connected mechanically to the therapy head andby causing the focal point of the shock waves to coincide with an imaginary connecting line extending between the two targets;

  • andfocussing the shock waves in that part of the gap small enough to cause reflections of the focussed shock waves to generate vibrations in the bone surfaces, the surfaces of the acoustically reflecting body and in the volume of the boundary surface gap.
