A method for measuring the concentration of a substance in a fluid wherein the measuring fluid is applied to a measuring field (14), consisting of hydrophilic material, of a test strip (12) and the change of the optical reflection or transmission capacity in the area of the measuring field (14) effected thereby is detected, characterized in that the measuring field (14) is divided into at least two measuring areas (26,28), which are separately measured, and that an indicator (20) is actuated, when after a pre-given time (t1, t2;
