1. A method used in the measurement of a fluid flow comprising the steps of:

  • generating a measurement signal representing an instantaneous fluid flow using a flow transducer in a flowmeter;

    determining amplitude variations of the measurement signal for at least one predetermined period of time; and

    comparing said determined amplitude variations with reference amplitude variations based on predetermined flow conditions to decide whether the flowmeter measures said fluid flow correctly, wherein said determined amplitude variations and said reference amplitude variations are noise.
