Method and apparatus for bridging a voice call including selective provision of information in non-audio to the caller
First Claim
1. An apparatus comprising:
- (a) a storage medium having stored therein programming instructions that implement a set of communication services for bridging a voice call from a caller to a callee, wherein the communication services include call management services and an automated attendant service operatively coupled to each other, with the call management services equipped to transition the voice call through a first plurality of call states while connecting the caller to the callee, to notify the automated attendant services of call status events while transitioning the voice call, to receive call processing directions from the automated attendant services provided in response to the call status event notifications, and to provide information in non-audio form to the caller in accordance with the received call processing directions, andthe automated attendant service equipped to receive the call status events from the call management services, and provide in response, the call processing directions, the caller being equipped to receive information in non-audio form, and(b) an execution unit coupled to the storage medium for executing the programming instructions.

Abstract
An apparatus is provided with a storage medium having stored therein programming instructions that implement a set of communication services for bridging a voice call from a caller to a calle, and an execution unit coupled to the storage medium for executing the programming instructions. The communication services include call management services for transitioning the voice call through a plurality of call states [including a call holding state] while connecting/disconnecting the caller and the callee, and facilitating selective provision of information in non-audio form to the caller [in at least the call holding state] while transitioning the voice calls through the call states. The caller is also equipped to receive non-audio information.
