1. A memory having stored therein data representing instructions executable by a microprocessor to control at least an engine of a vehicle to provide an incentive to a vehicle operator to operate the engine to improve fuel economy, the memory comprising:

  • instructions for establishing a maximum allowable vehicle speed; and

    instructions for increasing the maximum allowable vehicle speed in response to operating the engine in a manner which improves fuel economy.
