1. A method for operating a cellular communication network, comprising the steps of:

  • transmitting a wireless message from a base station to a mobile station located within a cell served by the base station, the message comprising location information for specifying a geographical location of the base station;

    storing the location information in the mobile station;

    originating a predetermined call type with the mobile station and appending the stored location information to a call origination message; and

    routing the call from the network to the call'"'"'s destination in conjunction with the appended location information;

    wherein the location information is comprised of an alphanumeric string that is descriptive of a name of a place where the base station is installed; and

    further comprising a step ofdisplaying at least a portion of the stored alphanumeric string to a user of the mobile station.
