1. A receiver/controller apparatus for a remote convenience system, said receiver/controller apparatus being responsive to a remote function request for controlling performance of a function of an associated convenience device, said receiver/controller apparatus comprising:

  • means for receiving at least a portion of a first signal, the first signal having a first frequency and a message package that includes the remote function request;

    means for receiving at least a portion of a second signal, the second signal having a second frequency different from the first frequency, and also having the message package that includes the remote function request;

    means for discerning at least a portion of the message package from the first signal;

    means for discerning at least a portion of the message package from the second signal;

    means for constructing a complete message package having the remote function request using the at least a portion of the message package discerned from the first signal and using the at least a portion of the message package discerned from the second signal, the at least a portion of the message package discerned from the first signal being at least partially different from the at least a portion of the message package discerned from the second signal; and

    means for controlling performance of the function of the associated convenience device in response to the constructed complete message package.
