1. A vehicular lighting system suitable for use in a motor vehicle, the system comprising:

  • a subassembly of the vehicle, said subassembly comprising one of an interior rearview mirror assembly, an outside mirror assembly, a door handle assembly, a bumper, a trim element, a luggage-compartment cover, a sunroof-operating module, an engine-compartment cover, a glove compartment, an ashtray, a storage compartment, and a seat;

    a lighting module included in said subassembly of the vehicle, said lighting module comprising at least one white light emitting diode;

    said lighting module further comprising electrical circuitry for supplying electrical power to said at least one white light emitting diode;

    wherein said at least one white light emitting diode individually emits substantially white light when said at least one white light emitting diode is powered by said electrical circuitry; and

    wherein said electrical circuitry and said at least one white light emitting diode are commonly mounted on a circuit element.
