1. An electromagnetic-wave transmission system capable of generating at least one time-domain signal from a superposition of a plurality of carrier signals, the transmission system including:

  • a multicarrier-signal generator capable of generating a plurality of carrier signals, a complex-weight generator coupled to the multicarrier-signal generator adapted to generate a plurality of complex carrier weights to map at least one information symbol into at least one pulse waveform resulting from a superposition of the carrier signals and centered at a predetermined time, and a combiner coupled to at least one of the complex-weighting system and the multicarrier-signal generator, the combiner capable of combining the plurality of carrier signals to produce a superposition signal haying at least one desired time-domain property resulting from interference between the carrier signals.
