Abstract

Provided is transmission of situational location dependent information from a server data processing system to a receiving data processing system. The server data processing system communicates with the receiving data processing system in a manner by pushing content when appropriate. A candidate delivery event associated with a current positional attribute of the receiving data processing system is recognized and a situational location of the remote data processing system is determined. The candidate delivery event may be a location and/or direction change, device state change, or movement exceeding a movement tolerance. The situational location of the remote data processing system may be its location, direction, location and direction, proximity to a location, state change, or location and/or direction relative to a previous location and/or direction, or combinations thereof. A set of delivery content from a deliverable content database is transmitted from the server data processing system to the receiving data processing system according to the situational location of the receiving data processing system, and according to delivery constraints. The delivery content is configurable by authorized administrators on an instant activation basis for proactive delivery.

Claims

1. A receiving data processing system for presenting situational location dependent information to a user interface of said receiving data processing system, said receiving data processing system comprising:

system event means for automatically recognizing a candidate delivery event of said receiving data processing system;

location means for automatically determining a subset of a situational location of said receiving data processing system;

communication means for communicating parameters of said subset of a situational location to a server data processing system, said server data processing system having server means for automatically retrieving delivery content from a deliverable content database, said delivery content searched according to a determined situational location suitable for search, said delivery content configured for delivery by a user through an administration interface to said deliverable content database; and

user interface means for presenting delivery information for said delivery content to a user interface of said receiving data processing system wherein said delivery information is communicated to said receiving data processing system from said server data processing system.

The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said user interface means includes means for presenting a content delivery setting to said user interface of said receiving data processing system, wherein said content delivery setting enables or disables delivery of delivery information from said server data processing system to said receiving data processing system.

3. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 further comprising user event means enabling user selection of an invocable speed reference, said speed reference part of said delivery information, and said user selection for automatic communications to an other data processing system.

4. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 further including means for maintaining a history of said delivery information.

5. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator for user selection to retrieve associated delivery content from said deliverable content database.

6. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator indicating existence of delivery content for said receiving data processing system.

7. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said situational location is a physical or logical network address.

8. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said server means for automatically retrieving delivery content from a deliverable content database includes means for automatically retrieving delivery content according to delivery constraints.

9. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said determined situational location suitable for search is determined with artificial intelligence.

10. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said delivery information is presented to said user interface according to delivery constraints.

11. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 further including means for presenting delivery information according to a user toggled content delivery setting, said content delivery setting determining whether or not to present said delivery information to the user interface of said receiving data processing system.

29. The server data processing system of claim 1 wherein said situational location is a state change.

30. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said delivery information is said delivery content.

31. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said candidate delivery event is a state change.

32. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said candidate delivery event is determined without regard to a movement of said receiving data processing system.

44. The receiving data processing system of claim 1 wherein said delivery content includes an executable program.

12. A receiving data processing system for presenting situational location dependent information to a user interface of said receiving data processing system, said receiving data processing system comprising:

system event means for automatically recognizing a candidate delivery event of said receiving data processing system;

location means for automatically determining a situational location of said receiving data processing system;

communication means for receiving a deliverable content database from a server data processing system to a local cache of said receiving data processing system, said deliverable content database configured for delivery by a user through an administration interface to said deliverable content database;

means for automatically retrieving delivery content from said deliverable content database in said local cache, said delivery content searched according to said situational location; and

user interface means for presenting delivery information for said delivery content to a user interface of said receiving data processing system.

13. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said communication means for receiving a deliverable content database from a server data processing system includes means for receiving a deliverable content database at a registration of said receiving data processing system.

14. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said communication means for receiving a deliverable content database from a server data processing system includes means for receiving a deliverable content database after administrator modification of said deliverable content database.

15. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said user interface means includes means for presenting a content delivery setting to said user interface of said receiving data processing system, wherein said content delivery setting enables or disables delivery of said deliverable content database to said receiving data processing system.

16. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 further comprising user event means enabling user selection of an invocable speed reference, said speed reference part of said delivery information, and said user selection for automatic communications to an other data processing system.

17. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 further including means for maintaining a history of said delivery information.

18. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator for user selection to retrieve associated delivery content from said deliverable content database.

19. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator indicating existence of delivery content for said receiving data processing system.

20. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said situational location is a physical or logical network address.

21. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said means for automatically retrieving delivery content includes means for automatically retrieving delivery content according to delivery constraints.

22. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said location means for automatically determining a situational location includes means for automatically determining said situational location with artificial intelligence.

23. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said delivery information is presented to said user interface according to delivery constraints.

24. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 further including means for presenting delivery information according to a user toggled content delivery setting, said content delivery setting determining whether or not to present said delivery information to the user interface of said receiving data processing system.

25. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said delivery information is said delivery content.

26. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said delivery content includes an executable program.

27. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said candidate delivery event is a state change.

28. The receiving data processing system of claim 12 wherein said candidate delivery event is determined without regard to a movement of said receiving data processing system.

33. A server data processing system for transmitting situational location dependent information to a receiving data processing system, said server data processing system comprising:

means for automatically determining a situational location of said receiving data processing system upon determination of a candidate delivery event for said receiving data processing system;

means for automatically retrieving delivery content from a deliverable content database searched according to said situational location, said delivery content configured for delivery by a user through an administration interface to said deliverable content database; and

means for automatically communicating delivery information for said delivery content to said receiving data processing system.

The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said means for automatically determining a situational location of said receiving data processing system upon determination of a candidate delivery event includes means for accepting parameters from said receiving data processing system, said parameters describing a subset of said situational location of said receiving data processing system.

35. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said delivery information contains a speed reference, said speed reference invocable by a user of said receiving data processing system for automatic communications to an other data processing system.

36. The server data processing system of claim 33 further including means for maintaining a history of said delivery information communicated to said receiving data processing system.

37. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator for user selection at said receiving data processing to retrieve associated delivery content from said deliverable content database.

38. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator indicating existence of delivery content for said receiving data processing system.

39. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said situational location is a physical or logical network address.

40. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said means for automatically retrieving delivery content includes means for automatically retrieving delivery content according to delivery constraints.

41. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said means for automatically determining a situational location includes means for automatically determining said situational location with artificial intelligence.

42. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said delivery information is communicated to said receiving data processing system according to delivery constraints.

The server data processing system of claim 33 further including means for communicating delivery information according to a user toggled content delivery setting, said content delivery setting determining whether or not to communicate said delivery information to said receiving data processing system.

The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said delivery information comprises a local cache deliverable content database for being maintained in a local cache of said receiving data processing system, said local cache deliverable content database accessed by said receiving data processing system.

46. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said delivery information is said delivery content.

47. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said delivery content includes an executable program.

49. The server data processing system of claim 33 wherein said candidate delivery event is determined without regard to a movement of said receiving data processing system.

The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said user interface means includes means for presenting a content delivery setting to said user interface of said receiving data processing system, wherein said content delivery setting enables or disables delivery of delivery information from said server data processing system to said receiving data processing system.

51. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 further comprising user event means enabling user selection of an invocable speed reference, said speed reference part of said delivery information, and said user selection for automatic communications to an other data processing system.

52. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 further including means for maintaining a history of said delivery information.

53. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator for user selection to retrieve associated delivery content from said deliverable content database.

54. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said delivery information is a content delivery indicator indicating existence of delivery content for said receiving data processing system.

55. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said situational location is a physical or logical network address.

56. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said delivery content retrieved by said server data processing system is retrieved according to delivery constraints.

57. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said delivery content retrieved by said server data processing system is retrieved using artificial intelligence.

58. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said delivery information is presented to said user interface according to delivery constraints.

59. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 further including means for presenting delivery information according to a user toggled content delivery setting, said content delivery setting determining whether or not to present said delivery information to said user interface.

60. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said delivery information is said delivery content.

61. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said delivery content includes an executable program.

62. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said situational location is a state change.

63. The receiving data processing system of claim 49 wherein said candidate delivery event is determined without regard to a movement of said receiving data processing system.

48. A receiving data processing system for receiving situational location dependent information from a server data processing system, said receiving data processing system comprising:

communication means for automatically receiving delivery information from said server data processing system, said server data processing system having server means for automatically determining a situational location of said receiving data processing system upon determination of a candidate delivery event for said receiving data processing system, said delivery information in accordance with delivery content retrieved by said server data processing system from a deliverable content database searched according to said situational location, said delivery content configured for delivery by a user trough an administration interface to said deliverable content database;

system event means for processing delivery of said delivery information to said receiving data processing system; and

user interface means for presenting said delivery information to a user interface of said receiving data processing system.
