1. A rover unit for use in a Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), comprising:

  • a radio modem receiver or transceiver, a GPS satellite receiver, and a channel selection means for automatically determining which of a set of pre-defined communication channels is carrying a valid GPS correction information, from a base station or another rover unit, wherein the channel selection means includes an algorithm that scans through the pre-defined communication channels in search of the valid GPS correction information, wherein the algorithm includes instructions to stop scanning when the channel is located having the valid GPS correction information, wherein the algorithm includes instructions to scan all the pre-defined communication channels and select the channel with the strongest signal.
