1. A pulmonary vein prosthetic valve device for implantation in a subject, the valve device comprising:

  • a diaphragm type portion;

    an anchoring portion; and

    one or more bridging arms flexibly attaching the diaphragm type portion to the anchoring portion, wherein the one or more bridging arms permit movement of the diaphragm type portion in a direction substantially perpendicular to a plane defined by the anchoring portion such that said diaphragm type portion remains in a planar position substantially parallel to the plane defined by the anchoring portion and facilitates displacement of the diaphragm type portion of the device into an open or closed position in response to blood flow pressure.
