1. A method for forming a power tool, comprising:

  • forming an electric motor having an armature;

    forming a plurality of winding slots on said armature;

    a) winding a first coil having first and second series coupled subcoils in a first plurality of said winding slots;

    b) winding a second coil having first and second series coupled subcoils in a second plurality of winding slots that is circumferentially offset in a first direction by one slot position from said subcoils of said first coil;

    c) winding a third coil having first and second series coupled subcoils in said second plurality of slots so as to completely overlap said subcoils of said second coil;

    d) winding a fourth coil having first and second series coupled subcoils in a third plurality of slots that is offset circumferentially in the first direction by one slot position from said second plurality of slots; and

    coupling ends of each of said coils to an associated commutator bar supported on said armature.
