1. A method for transmitting signal from an ultra wideband (UWB) transmitter, comprising:

  • generating a set of harmonics of a reference clock signal, wherein the generation of the set of harmonics is synchronized to the reference clock signal;

    generating a pseudo-random noise signal;

    coding a set of data bits using the pseudo-random noise signal to generate a coded data signal, based on the reference clock signal;

    modulating each of the set of harmonics of the carrier frequency using the coded data signal synchronously with the reference clock signal to generate a set of modulated harmonic signals;

    transmitting each of the set of modulated harmonic signals;

    wherein the pseudo-random noise signal corresponds to a ratio for a number of chips to each data bit of the set of data bits;

    wherein the set of harmonics and a frequency of the reference clock signal are based on a power spectral density for the UWB transmitter;

    wherein the power spectral density of the UWB transmitter at a frequency(f) is p n = 2

    where fc represents the frequency of the reference clock signal and n represents approximately a center operating frequency of the UWB transmitter divided by one half of a desired bandwidth for the UWB transmitter;

    wherein each of the set of harmonics are modulated such that one of the set of modulated harmonic signal corresponds to one of the set of data bits; and

    wherein each of the set of harmonics are modulated such that one of the set of modulated harmonic signal corresponds to one of a set of chips, the set of chips corresponding to one of the set of data bits.
