1. A method for implanting a medical device in a patient'"'"'s body, the device including a housing having a proximal end, a distal end and a longitudinal axis, the method comprising:

  • providing a plurality of ring members formed as complete loops;

    connecting a first plurality of a first plurality of said ring members tangentially to the distal end of the housing at different, respective angles about the longitudinal axis;

    connecting a second plurality of ring members tangentially to the proximal end of the housing at different, respective angles about the longitudinal axis;

    collapsing the first and second pluralities of ring members about respective connections with the housing into a collapsed position, in which the ring members are substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing;

    inserting the medical device into tissue in a patient'"'"'s body using a catheter, while the ring members are in the collapsed position;

    deploying the medical device at least partially from the catheter, causing the first set of ring members to move around said connections to a deployed position in which the ring members are substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the housing, so as to engage one side of the tissue; and

    deploying the medical device completely from the catheter, causing the second set of ring members to move around said connections to the deployed position so as to engage another side of the tissue and to anchor the housing against the tissue.
