1. A method for an entertainment selection system, including the steps ofrepresenting on a display at least some of a set of media selection entries each having a set of media attribute data fields associated therewith, wherein a result of representing includes for each entry at least one graphical element in response to at least some of said data fields;

  • designating a specific media selection entry as a focused upon media selection entry;

    calculating a content distance for each media selection entry relative to the focused upon media selection entry in response to a similarity of a plurality of media attribute data fields of each media selection entry to a plurality of media attribute data fields of the focused upon media selection entry;

    determining a screen distance in response to the content distance, for each media selection entry;

    positioning pictoral representations of the media selection entries on a multi-dimensional rectilinear array in response to the screen distance for each media selection entry;

    presenting on a display device at least a portion of said multi-dimensional rectilinear array, wherein a user may navigate within the multi-dimensional rectilinear array so that the entire array may be viewed on the display device, and wherein media selection entries that are more similar to the focused upon media selection entry are positioned closer to said focused upon media selection entry than those that are less similar, in response to said calculated content distance for each media selection entry;

    in response to a predetermined stimulus, repositioning the media selection entries within the multi-dimensional rectilinear array, wherein the focused upon media selection entry is maintained in substantially the same location on the display, and wherein the repositioning is pertormed in a manner that maintains substantially the same content distance of each of the media selection entries relative to the focused upon media selection entry, to form an alternate array for the same content distance calculations.
