1. A database management method of performing a processing of a database by invoking a function registered in the database in response to a request of processing, comprising the steps of:

  • relating with each other and cataloging as index definition information, an index name, an index type name of the index type in an index corresponding to said index name, data configured to invoke an index-accessing routine which accesses an index of said index type, a transformation function name identifying an input key-generating function which generates an input key configured to maintain said index from values of indexed columns, and a first function name identifying an index-accessing function which accesses said index;

    upon reception of said processing request including a second function name, referring to said index definition information to acquire a relevant one of said cataloged index type name corresponding to said second function name, and said data configured to invoke an index-accessing routine which accesses an index of the index type corresponding to said cataloged index type name corresponding to said second function name, and when said second function name matches said cataloged first function name, generating an execution plan based on said acquired index-accessing routine-invoking data; and

    in executing said execution plan, invoking a revelant routine based on the index-accessing routine-invoking data to access the index corresponding to said acquired index type name.
