1. A method of modifying a view of a visual environment, comprising the steps of:
- a) detecting a neural signal from a subject, said neural signal containing information relating to the focal condition on a retina of said subject of an image of at least a portion of the view of said environment;
b) extracting said information relating to said focal condition from said neural signal;
c) determining a modification to said imaged view based upon said information relating to said focal condition; and
d) adjusting an optical system to produce said modification to said imaged view.

2. A system for providing adaptive vision modification, comprising:
