Matching consumers with billers having bills available for electronic presentment
First Claim
1. A method, comprising:
- receiving, by an electronic bill presentment and payment service provider processor, from an entity, enrollment information associated with a consumer, wherein the enrollment information does not identify any biller of the consumer;
accessing at least one database containing biller customer identifying information associated with one or more electronic billers;
comparing, by the electronic bill presentment and payment service provider processor, at least a portion of the enrollment information with the biller customer identifying information;
identifying, by the electronic bill presentment and payment service provider processor, one of the one or more electronic billers as a candidate electronic biller of the consumer based on determining a probability of a correspondence between the at least a portion of the enrollment information and at least a portion of the biller customer identifying information; and
transmitting, to the entity, an identification of the one electronic biller.

Abstract
A technique for identifying electronic billers of a consumer whose bills are available by electronic presentment is provided. A request to identify electronic billers of the consumer is received. This request includes information that identifies the consumer, but excludes any information identifying any biller, electronic or not, of the consumer. From this information that does not identify any biller of the consumer, one more candidate electronic billers of the consumer are identified. Then, a positive determination is made that at least one of these candidate electronic billers is definitely an electronic biller of the consumer. Thus, electronic billers of the consumer are identified without the consumer identifying any biller.
