1. A method in a computing environment for outputting at least one patient alert from a multi-patient display, the method comprising:

  • providing the multi-patient display, the multi-patient display having a plurality of selectable patient indicators;

    receiving alert data associated with a patient with whom one of the plurality of selectable patient indicators is associated, wherein the alert data comprises data stored in an electronic medical record;

    utilizing the received alert data to determine if at least one patient alert is necessary;

    if it is determined that at least one patient alert is necessary, outputting the at least one patient alert from the multi-patient display in association with the one of the plurality of selectable patient indicators including at least one selectable executable action associated with the at least one patient alert, wherein the at least one selectable executable action, if selected, initiates a corresponding executable action; and

    receiving a selection of one of the at least one selectable executable action and, in response to the selection, initiating the corresponding executable action comprising displaying at least a portion of the electronic medical record associated with the patient including the alert data that necessitated the at least one patient alert and contextual clinical information relevant to the alert data that necessitated the at least one patient alert.
