1. A method for converting imaging data in polar format from a medical imaging device to Cartesian format, the method comprising:

  • providing a medical imaging device configured and arranged for insertion of a probe of the medical imaging device into a patient;

    generating imaging data in polar format by the medical imaging device, wherein the generated polar imaging data comprises a single distance Ri and a single angle θ

    , for each of at least one physical object from a centerpoint of the imaging data; and

    converting the generated polar imaging data into Cartesian format, wherein the conversion of the polar imaging data into Cartesian format, being performed on a computer, compriseswrapping the polar imaging data around a cone; and

    reducing the height of the cone to zero.
