1. A method for promoting healing of a wound comprising:

  • determining a position for an ultrasonic transducer in the vicinity of the wound at which ultrasonic waves transmitted from the ultrasonic transducer in a first direction are reflected off a surface of a body toward an interior surface of the wound such that a sufficient level of the reflected ultrasonic waves contact the wound to promote healing thereof;

    positioning the ultrasonic transducer at the determined position in the vicinity of the wound; and

    emitting ultrasonic waves from the ultrasonic transducer in the first direction such that the emitted ultrasonic waves are reflected off the surface of the body toward the interior surface of the wound such that the sufficient level of the reflected ultrasonic waves contact the wound to promote healing thereof.
