1. A method of treatment, comprising the steps of:

  • a. implanting a prosthetic valve within a body vessel, the prosthetic valve comprising a biological material and at least one aperture therethrough configured to permit retrograde fluid flow through the aperture;

    b. permitting the prosthetic valve to remain in the body vessel for a period effective for permitting the biological material to attain a reduced level of thrombogenicity,c. introducing an occluding device to the site of the prosthetic valve after the effective period of time; and

    d. positioning the occluding device to at least partially block the at least one aperture to restrict retrograde flow and enhance the functionality of the valve.
