1. A surgical stapler, comprising:

  • a staple cartridge configured to removably store a staple therein;

    an anvil, wherein one of said staple cartridge and said anvil includes a first lip; and

    a buttress material, wherein said buttress material is releasably retained to said first lip,wherein said staple comprises;

    a crown comprised of a dissolvable material;

    a first deformable member comprising a tissue-piercing end, wherein said first deformable member is configured to hold tissue after it has been deformed; and

    a second member configured to hold tissue, said crown connecting said first deformable member and said second member when said crown is undissolved, said first deformable member being unconnected to said second member after said crown has been dissolved, wherein said first deformable member and said second member are configured to hold tissue independently of one another after said crown has been dissolved.
