1. A high-throughput, non-destructive method for analyzing individual seeds in a population of seeds, the method comprising:

  • removing a tissue sample from each of one or more individual seeds in the population using an automated sampler while preserving germination viability of the one or more sampled seeds; and

    analyzing the one or more tissue samples for the presence or absence of one or more characteristics indicative of at least one genetic or chemical trait.
