1. A system for performing computer-based operations, the system comprising:

  • a computer system configured for;

    receiving a print request for printing a document;

    allocating and retrieving a unique document identifier for said document upon receipt of said print request; and

    associating the document identifier with a description of the document, the description associating at least one instruction with one or more positions in the document;

    a printer for printing the document containing visible information and coded data tags on a surface simultaneously, each coded data tag encoding position on the surface and each coded data tag further identifying the document identifier; and

    an optically imaging pen for sensing at least one coded data tag during handwritten input on the document and for generating a signal indicative of the sensed coded data tag;

    wherein the computer system is further configured for;

    receiving the signal from the pen;

    determining the document identifier and the position;

    retrieving the description associated with the document identifier; and

    relating the position to the at least one instruction using the retrieved description and executing the at least one instruction.
